PM appoints Asim Bajwa as CPEC Authority chairman
- Asim Bajwa has been appointed as the chairman for four years and the CPEC Authority will work under the Ministry of Planning Development and Reforms.

(Karachi) Prime Minister Imran Khan has appointed Lt General (Retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa as the chairman of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority.
A notification issued on Tuesday stated that Asim Bajwa has been appointed as the chairman for four years and the CPEC Authority will work under the Ministry of Planning Development and Reforms.

On October 18, 2019, President Arif Alvi promulgated “The CPEC Authority Ordinance, 2019” for the establishment of the CPEC Authority.
The authority, which is aimed at accelerating the pace of CPEC-related activities, will find new drives of growth, unlock the potential of the interlinked production network and global value chains through regional and global connectivity.
Lt General (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa had served as Commander Southern Command before his retirement and also served as Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) from 2012 to 2016 preceded Major Gen. Asif Ghafoor.
