  • Sheikh Rashid will be NAB’s first witness to testify among 59 others.
  • He will be testifying in Islamabad's accountability court.

Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid will testify against former prime minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) case.

He will be the first one among 59 witnesses presented by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). The minister will be presented in an accountability court in Islamabad. Other witnesses include four members of the energy ministry, which includes Muhammad Hassan Bhatti, Nawaz Ahmed Wark, Abdul Rasheed Jokhio and Umar Saeed, local media reported.

In the last hearing on Monday, an accountability court in Islamabad extended the judicial remand of Abbasi and former finance minister Miftah Ismail by 20 days in the LNG case.

The former PM was arrested on July 18 by the bureau from Lahore Toll Plaza. NAB accused Abbasi of ‘commission of the offence of corruption and corrupt practices under Section 9(a) of National Accountability Ordinance (NAO), 1999.'
