Kohat Cement's latest expansion increases capacity by 80pc

Cement manufacturer Kohat Cement has initiated the commercial operations from its Brownfield Expansion Project.

“Kohat Cement Company Limited has successfully commenced Commercial Operations from its Brownfield Expansion Project of 7,800 tpd Grey Cement Production Line (including WHR power plant) from January 27,2020,” informed the company in its filing to Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Monday.

The cement manufacturer added that after setting up of this additional line, the total installed cement production capacity of the company has enhanced from 2,953,500 tons per annum to 5,293,500 tons per annum, showing a capacity increase of upto 80 percent.

Last month, Lucky Cement successfully completed the construction and installation of an additional line of 2.8 million tons per annum at the company’s North (KPK) Plant.

With the addition of this New Line for 2.8 million tons, the total production capacity (including both North and South plants) of the company increased from 9.35 million tons to 12.15 million tons per annum, allowing Lucky Cement to overtake Bestway Cement, as Pakistan’s largest cement producer.
