KARACHI: Brisk shipping activity was observed at Port Qasim where five ships scheduled to load/offload containers, wheat, rice, chemicals and furnace oil were berthed at Qasim International Container Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively during last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, another ship carrying containers also arrive at outer anchorage of Port during last 24 hours.
Berth occupancy was maintained at the Port at 54 percent on Wednesday where a total of seven ships namely C.V CMA CGM puccni, C.V ACX Rafflesia, M.V Liberty Spirit, M.V Hunter-k, M.V Al-Aska, M.T Ocean Concord and M.T DL Ace are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, wheat, rice, cement, chemicals and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood at 83,525 tonnes, comprising 54,167 tonnes imports and 29,358 tonnes exports cargo, inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 1,533 containers (TEUs) was handled at the Port.
Three ships C.V CMA CGM Puccni, C.V ACX. Rafflesia and M.V Hunter-k sailed out to sea on Thursday morning.
Four ships C.V Atlantic Trader, C.V Dubai Express, C.V CSAC Appennini and C.V MSC Sierra are expected to take berths at QICT on Thursday, May 19, while another container ship Glory is due to arrive at Port Qasim on May 20.
