ISLAMABAD: The dust storm in Federal Capital and some other parts of the country would help slightly minimize the temperature during next few days and provide a bit relief to people, facing scorching heat since the start of June.
Westerly waves have brought dust storms with bleak chances of rain because of very low moisture feeding. So very bleak chance of rain between June 6 and 7 in Federal Capital but temperature is expected to decline 3 to 4 degree celsius, Meteorologist, Muzammal Hussain said on Tuesday. The dust storm also hit various cities of Punjab and Khyber Pukhankwa inclidng Peshawar, Lahore, Faisalabad and others bringing some respite to citizens.
He said most parts of Punjab and Sindh remained in grip of heatwave with temperature varied between 45 to 50 but dust storm would definitely reduce the temperature.
He said temperature in Islamabad was 43 C, but during next two days it is expected to remain 40 C or 41 C. He June is the hottest month of Islamabad and previously it was recorded 46.7 in Federal Capital.
Muzammil Hussain said till the first week of June the weather is usually identical to May, but in the middle of June pre-Monsoon showers can start that come from South west monsoon. Dust storms are common in this month which are also called as Andhi.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday heatwave confined people to their homes Capital, central and south parts of the country while roads and markets wear a desert look. The citizens increased use of cold drinks to cater the intense hot weather.
According to Met Office, maximum 50 C temperature was recorded in Dadu while temperature of different cities was: Larkana and Sibi 48C, Sargodha 47C, Nawabshah and Sukkur 46C, Lahore 44C, Islamabad 42C, Peshawar 45C, Karachi 34C, and Quetta 34C.
