ISLAMABAD: As many as 88 coronavirus-related deaths were recorded with 3,039 new cases surfaced in 24 hours and 201 patients were on ventilators battling for life, till Sunday evening. Addressing a joint press conference at the Command and Control Centre (NCOC) along with Chief Executive Officer (CEO) National Information Technology Board (NITB) Shabahat Ali Shah, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Dr Zafar Mirza said there was no shortage of ventilators in the country and the critically ill affectees of coronavirus were being treated with utmost care. "All available resources are being exhausted for the treatment of coronavirus patients as well as the prevention of this pandemic," he said. Mirza shared the figures compiled by NCOC which suggested that the total coronavirus tally in Pakistan (by Sunday evening) had reached 69,496 with 1483 total deaths and 522 critically ill. The number of patients recovered from coronavirus was 25,271. As many as 14,972 coronavirus screening tests were carried out in last 24 hours with the total number of screening tests having reached 547,030. The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Sindh was recorded at 27,360, Punjab 25,056 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 9,540, Balochistan 4,193, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) 2,418, Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) 678 and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) 251. Speaking on the occasion, CEO NITB said the hospitals across the country are being linked to a technologically advanced Resource Management System launched by NITB. The distribution of ventilators would be carried out using this technology keeping in view the requirement of ventilators at every hospital, he said. "We have applied scientific technologies in this battle against coronavirus. Everything is being dealt with on scientific lines," he said adding that Resource Management System would come into effect from today (June 1). The Launch of Resource Management system is a significant step in the battle against coronavirus, he said.
