Messi returns to training ahead of La Liga return

Barcelona get a huge boost ahead of La Liga return as their star striker Lionel Messi retuned to training as he is expected to be fit to play first game after COVID-19 interruption.

The Spanish top flight recommences on Thursday following a three-month break enforced by the coronavirus pandemic, with league leaders visiting Real Mallorca on Saturday.

Their key man was doubtful to the opening game, however his return gave a huge boost to the defenders as the Argentine is well on course to be fit for the game.

The Blaugrana captain was still training separately on Saturday when the team conducted a session at Camp Nou, yet on Monday the club's all-time leading scorer was back with the rest of the squad.

Barcelona uploaded photos of that session showing Messi smiling alongside Luis Suarez as Quique Setien's players warmed up.

La Liga will resume with Barcelona two points clear of their great rivals Real Madrid with 11 games to go.
