  • In 2020, India has so far committed 1,296 ceasefire violations resulting in seven casualties and injuries to 98 innocent civilians

(Karachi) Foreign Office summoned a senior Indian diplomat on Wednesday to register Pakistan's strong protest over the ceasefire violations by the Indian occupation forces along the Line of Control. Indian troops resorted to firing in Jandrot Sector resulting in serious injuries to four innocent civilians.

A statement issued by Foreign Office stated that due to indiscriminate and unprovoked firing by the Indian occupation forces, 26 years old Nasreen Akhtar, resident of Sandhara village, 24 years old Rabia and seven years old Momina, residents of Dera Sher Khan village, and seven years old Munshi, resident of Bamroch village sustained serious injuries.

In 2020, India has so far committed 1,296 ceasefire violations resulting in seven casualties and injuries to 98 innocent civilians.

The FO said Indian forces have continuously been targeting civilian populated areas with artillery fire, heavy-caliber mortars and automatic weapons along the LoC and Working Boundary.

The FO statement further said that these violations by India are a threat to ‘regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation'. “The deliberate targeting of civilian populated areas is indeed deplorable and contrary to human dignity, international human rights and humanitarian laws," the statement said.

Pakistan urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 ceasefire and instructed them to respect the ceasefire in letter and spirit and maintain peace on the LoC and the Working Boundary.
