traffic jam 4002RAWALPINDI: Lack of suitable transport, people of twin cities are facing difficulties in reaching their destination on time.

The people demanded concerned authorities to take prompt action in providing speedy and reasonable transport like Metro Bus service which launched in Lahore so that they could travel with the entire peace of mind and satisfaction.

Varan Tours, the private company which had earlier been plying its buses in th city to provide transport facility to the citizens, is ready to bring its fleet of buses on roads if provided some relaxations.

Varan Tours Chairperson Uzam Gul talking to APP said that the company was waiting a green signal from the Punjab government regarding subsidized fuel rates to ply buses in the twin cities.

Uzma Gul said a proposal for subsidy on fuel had already been submitted with the provincial government; however, no response has been received.

She said it was the right of people to travel on public transport at concessional fares in view of rising inflation. But it was difficult for Varan to run the service in view of high diesel prices, she added.

She demanded of the Punjab government to give subsidy on fuel prices so that the company could provide transport facility to the commuters at affordable rates.

To a question, Uzma Gul said out of 133 buses, over 100 were in running condition and the company's fleet will be ready to hit the road if green signal is given. The service could be started any time, if the government agreed to give subsidy on diesel or exempt/relax taxes.
