KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party will hold a big public meeting at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh on the night between April 3 and 4 to observe the 34th death anniversary of founder- chairman of PPP and former prime minister Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
President Asif Ali Zardari, who is Co-chairman of PPP, and Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will also address the public gathering, said a release from PPP Secretariat Sindh on Sunday.
This was decided in meeting of Executive Committee of PPP- Sindh which met here Sunday to review the arrangements made regarding the Shaheed Bhutto death anniversary.
President PPP Sindh and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah chaired the meeting at the Chief Minister House.
The meeting decided that posters will be pasted and banners will be installed on the eve to highlight the personality and sacrifices of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. It was decided that reception camps representing all districts and divisions of the country will be set up around the public meeting place and free food (lungur) will be distributed among the people.
The rallies from every corner of the country will start reaching the venue in the afternoon of April 3.
The Programme will start by 2000 hours of April 3, with recitation from the Holy Quran followed by "naat khuwani" and mushaira. The public meeting will start at Zero hours (midnight) which will be addressed by senior leaders of the party.
At 2:10 am the time of shahadat of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, two minutes silence will be observed to show grief and respect for him. Later, a documentary on the life of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto will be played. At 2:45 am a collective 'dua' will be held before laying floral wreaths on the mazar of Shaheed Bhutto and 'fateha' will be offered.
Addressing the meeting of PPP Executive Committee, President PPP Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah said Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was a great leader. His revolutionary and people-based politics brought change in the country and awakened the general public. 1973 Constitution was also a unique achievement of Shaheed Z.A. Bhutto.
Even today, he said, Shaheed Bhutto is the pivot of the country's politics. Although 34 years had passed since the martyrdom of Zulifkar Ali Bhutto yet the people have not forgotten the grief and the pain for him. Hundreds of million of people are the followers of Shaheed Bhutto.
"Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto do live in the hearts of people," he remarked.
He said the philosophy and socio-economic programme of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto is the true programme of welfare of the people, and for the development and prosperity of the country.
On this occasion, Syed Qaim Ali Shah congratulated the nation for the completion of five-year term of the democratically elected government.
The credit goes to President Asif Ali Zardari for his wisdom and politics of reconciliation.
Maula Bakhsh Chandio, Jam Mehtab Dahar, Agha Siraj Durrani, Jam Saifullah Dharejo, Abdul Qadir Patel, Waqar Mehdi and other PPP leaders attended the meeting.
