In the hour-long meeting, they discussed threadbare various issues relating to the forthcoming general elections.

Speaking to the chief ministers, Prime Minister Khoso said that the government was committed to timely, peaceful, free and fair elections in the country.

"General elections are sacred trust of the people of Pakistan and we have to conduct it in an impartial and transparent manner," said the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister said that the provincial chief ministers have an important role in creating a conducive environment so that the people of Pakistan can exercise their right to choose freely.

He assured the chief ministers that the federal government would provide all possible resources to the provinces to facilitate the Election Commission of Pakistan in holding general elections in the country.

Khoso said that he expected the government servants and officials to remain impartial and in case of complaints strict action will be taken against them.

The chief ministers assured the Prime Minister that they were firming up arrangements to maintain law and order and ensuring that political parties and candidates could campaign and enlighten the people on their plans and programme.
