Interesting contest expected on PK-32, Swabi 2
PESHAWAR: An interesting contest was expected on PK-32, Swabi-2, known as strong-hold of ANP where all the mainstream political parties have fielded their candidates to capture the seat.
From the constituency, former MPA and district president ANP, Haji Rehman Ullah Khan's son Ameer Rehman, Naib Ameer JI, KPK, Mushtaq Ahmed and Chirman Awabi Jamhuri Ittehad, Shahram Khan Tarakai were in the run and all seemed to be confident to win the election.
The seat was secured earlier in 2008 by the candidate of Awami Jamhuri Ittehad, Javed Khan Tarakai however his candidature for the coming elections was rejected on pretext that he has dual nationality.
He has been replaced by former nazim and party's Chairman, Shahram Khan Tarakai for election 2013.
Political pundits of the area were of the view that Awami National Party had a strong vote bank in the area however there were positive chances of success of JI candidate Mushtaq Ahmed owing to initiation of development works during past MMA regime.
They were also optimistic about the position of Shahram Khan Tarakai as his party Awami Jamhuri Ittehad also had strong roots among the area people.
