ISLAMABAD: Service quality in four passenger trains will be improved to attract and facilitate passengers, besides making two freight ones functional soon.
An official of the Pakistan Railways while talking to APP here Wednesday, said instructions had been issued to improve service of Karakoram Express, Tezgam, Quetta Express and Karachi Express.
He said a re-structuring plan of the PR had also been prepared on the directives of Railways Minister, which would be finalised after consultations with trade unions, experts and retired employees.
"We were preparing a five-year plan to revamp Railways. Repairing of rail tracks will be given priority" he said.
Replying to a question, the official said the Pakistan Railways would soon become a profit-earning entity.
He said the principle of merit and `rule of law' would be upheld to transform the railway into a vibrant transportation mode.
He said an effective strategy was being evolved to get the Railways' land vacated from encroachers.
