WASHINGTON: Private exporters reported the sale of 230,000 tonnes of US soybeans to China and unknown destinations and 103,600 tonnes of US corn to unknown destinations, all for delivery this marketing year, said the Agriculture Department on Monday.
The soybean sales included 115,000 tonnes to China and 115,000 tonnes to unknown destinations. The 2013/14 marketing year for corn and soybeans opened on Sept. 1.
By law, exporters must report promptly the sale of 100,000 tonnes or more of a commodity to the same destination in one day but it sometimes can take a couple of days for the identity of a buyer to become known. Sales of smaller amounts are reported on a weekly basis.
