imageISLAMABAD: All rounder Shahid Khan Afridi and off-spinner Saeed Ajmal has signed a contract for South Africa's upcoming domestic T20 competition, reported a TV channel.

The signings are believed to be part of the growing friendship between the two countries, which have always enjoyed good relations but are seeking to further develop that bond.

Pakistan agreed to tour South Africa at short notice after a curtailed India visit left Cape Town without an ODI all summer and venues such as Bloemfontein and East London with no international cricket at all.

Shahid Afridi will represent Knights and Saeed Ajmal Titans. Both will be new to the South African domestic scene while left-arm fast bowler Sohail Tanvir, who has already spent two seasons with Lions, will also be there in this season taking the number of national players to three.

Furthermore, talks are in progress for the participation of two more players for shorter format domestic season.

It is to mention here that the domestic T20 event of South Africa would continue from January 5 to February 9, 2014, where Pakistani players who feature for the national team will not be available for the full window, because of the series against Sri Lanka which is on till January 20.
