ROTTERDAM: Soymeal on the European meals and feeds market eased on Thursday after a dip in CBOT soymeal futures on prospects for a bumper South American soybean crop, while a stronger dollar also weighed on products priced in the US currency.
"Trade was still thin on the European cash market as both buyers and sellers were reorientating at the end of the holiday season," one broker said.
South American soymeal was offered between unchanged and $9 a tonne down from Tuesday, following the trend in CBOT soymeal futures.
Afloat Brazilian soymeal pellets changed hands at $573 a tonne fob Rotterdam and Argentine high-protein soymeal fetched $573 and $570 a tonne fob Rotterdam for afloat material.
Most other products were offered between unchanged and 2 euros per tonne up on the back of a dip in the euro, which underpins euro-priced products. Gains were limited by weaker rapeseed futures and lower soymeal. Bids were scarce and no deals were reported.
