port-qasimKARACHI: Shipping activity remained active at the Port Qasim where four ships carrying containers and diesel oil were berthed at Port Qasim International Container Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday, June 1.

Meanwhile, three more ships scheduled to load/offload containers, rice and diesel oil also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the same day.

Berth occupancy was maintained at the Port at 69% on Wednesday as against to 77% on previous day where a total of nine ships namely C.V MSC Sena, C.V OOCL San Francisco, C.V ACX Marguerite, C.V MSC Magali, M.V Wales-II, M.V Sapphire-II, M.V Bussara Naree, M.V Chang Qaing and M.T Maestros are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, wheat, palm oil and diesel oil respectively during last 24 hours.

Cargo handling registered an upward trend at the Port on Wednesday where a cargo volume of 0.117 million tonnes, comprising 0.077 million tonnes imports and 0.040 million tonnes exports inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 4,148 containers (TEUs) was handled at the Port during last 24 hours.

Three container ships, MSC Magali, OOCL San Francisco and ACX Marguerite sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while three more ships, containers ship MSC Sena, Bulk cargo carrier Bussara Naree and oil tanker Maestros are expected to sail on same day.

Three ships C.V CMA CHM Puget, M.V Abdul and M.T Ocean Concord scheduled to load/offload containers, rice and furnace oil are expected to take berths at Container Terminal and FOTCO Terminal respectively on Thursday, June 2.

Containers ship RHL Fiducia and Bulk cargo carrier Zulal-N are due to arrive at Port Qasim on same day while two more container ships Glory and MSC Magali are due to arrive on Friday, June 3.
