ISLAMABAD: Ambassador Javed Malik, Prime Minister's Special Envoy has been designated by Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to participate in the two-day Annual Investment Conference (AIM 2104) to begin from April 8 in Dubai on his behalf.
More than 100 countries are expected to take part in the Annual Investment Conference which is being held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum the Prime Minister of United Arab Emirates and the Ruler of Dubai.
This year several government Ministers, Special Envoys, Chief Ministers, and high ranking government officials from across the world will be present at the prestigious conference which has established itself as one of the most high profile and prestigious events in the global investment and trade calendar, a statement of Ambassador Javed Malik issued here Monday said.
In addition to government officials, heads of government and multilateral international organizations, chairmen and CEOs of multinationals, decision makers, distinguished businessmen and investors from around will participate in the two day conference starting on April 8, 2014 which is expected to attract over 10,000 participants.
Speaking about his participation, Ambassador Javed Malik said "under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Pakistan is positioning itself as a business and investor friendly economy which thrives on good governance, ease of doing business and zero tolerance for corruption.
He said the federal and provincial governments have some very attractive investment opportunities particularly in the energy, infrastructure and agriculture sector. He said, "We are always keen to highlight these opportunities at international level so that we can attract investment and expand trade with Pakistan, and therefore I think it would be vitally important to have Pakistan's visible presence at such international forums."
During the conference, Prime Minister's Special Envoy Ambassador Javed Malik is expected to hold high level meetings with visiting delegations from, government officials and international organizations in addition to UAE government officials with a view of exploring opportunities to expand trade and highlight investment and business opportunities in Pakistan.
Other members of the delegation from Pakistan includes Dr Miftah Ismail and Chairman BOI.
