ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid Wednesday said the government wanted to resolve the issue peacefully through dialogue.
Talking to a private TV channel, he said all out efforts were being made to defuse the situation peacefully, since PTI and PAT were using children and women as human shields.
"It is difficult to use force against innocent children and women," he underlined.
Pervaiz Rashid said the government would request both Imran Khan and Tahir- ul-Qadri to keep their protests merely protests and do not go beyond that.
The minister condemned the attack on Shah Mehmood Qureshi's residence in Multan by PML-N workers saying that it was not the party's policy. He apologized to Shah Mehmood Qureshi over the incident.
Responding to a question, he said the government did not have any power to take resignations from Election Commission members as it was independent in its functioning.
Pervaiz Rashid stated that he came to know early morning that one of the leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had shown willingness for negotiations and that the Prime Minister had nominated four persons for dialogue process.
