Before the mega event starts, players are getting out of World Cup due to injury problems. Pakistani all-rounder Mohammad hafiz, pacer Junaid Khan, India’s Ishant Sharma has been pulled out of World Cup due to injury.
A media release from Sri Lankan Cricket has confirmed that Sri Lankan pacer Dhammika Prasad will not be available for the World Cup 2015. He has suffered a fracture as a ball hit his left-hand while taking a return catch.
“X-ray showed a fracture of the 5th metacarpal bone. The fracture has been realigned and put in a cast. Dhammika will not be available for the upcoming World Cup”, the media release stated.
Dhamika had played 17 tests and 24 ODI international with an average of 49.37 and 30.50. Sri Lanka played their 1st warm up game again South Africa and lost by 5 wickets D/L method. Sri Lanka will face Zimbabwe on February 11 in their 2nd warm up before the mega event starts.
Team Sri Lanka cricket will follow the ICC protocol and take necessary actions for the replacement of the fast bowler. Reportedly, the selection committee has decided to replace Injured Dhammika Prasad with Dushmantha Chameera.
