ISLAMABAD: Opposition parties here on Monday declared Senator Raza Rabbani as their candidate for the post of Chairman Senate.
Chief of National Awami Party (ANP) Asfandyar Wali Khan made the announcement after a meeting of leaders of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Pakistan Muslim League Q and ANP at Zardari House.
Talking to media after the meeting, Asfandyar said opposition parties unanimously nominated Senator Raza Rabbani as their candidate.
He said Deputy Chairman Senate candidate would be nominated from Balochistan province.
The ANP chief was flanked by Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Khursheed Shah, Farooq Sattar of MQM, Raza Rabbani of PPP and Kamil Ali Agha of PML-Q.
Raza Rabbani thanked the opposition parties for making his nomination and said he would try to come up to their expectations.
