imageJHIMPIR: Federal Minister for Water and Power, Khwaja Muhammad Asif here on Wednesday said that only those areas of the country experience more power load-shedding than the hours announced by the government where recovery to the discos is very low mainly because of theft of electricity.

The Minister was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Chinese Company Three Gorges First Wind Farm Pakistan (Pvt) Limited's 49.5 MW Wind Power Project and CSCEC Wind Power Equipment Pakistan (Pvt) Limited's Wind Power Manufacturing Facility at Jhimpir, in district Thatta.

Sindh Government's Energy Development Department, National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) and National Transmission and Distribution Company (NTDC) are also partners in this project.

Minister of State for Water and Power, Chaudhry Abid Sher Ali, Sindh Minister for Finance Syed Murad Ali Shah and Chairman, Chinese Company CSCEC, Lu Chun and the Consul General of China in Karachi were also present.

Federal Minister for Water and Power, Khwaja Muhammad Asif said PML-N led Government would emerge successful in overcoming the energy crisis in the country when it would return to the people in next general elections in 2018. However, he continued, energy crisis has become a big challenge for the government and this is because of poor planning in the past. There is no short cut solution but we are working on multi-dimensional strategy, he said.

We are expanding our generation capacity and bridging the demand and supply gap, he added.

He said Pakistan's economic prosperity is totally dependent on the availability of energy.

The Minister said that 49.5 MW wind mill project and the turbines' manufacturing facility commissioned by the Chinese Company is a milestone in energy sector of Pakistan.

He said Chinese Company Three Gorges is the one which has so far made a big commitment of setting up different power plants of 3300 MW in Pakistan. These would include wind, solar and hydel in different areas of Pakistan. The work on two more wind power plants of 50 MW each at Jhimpir would start soon, he said.

CSCEC company of China has also transferred technology by setting up wind turbine manufacturing facility here, he said.

Chinese Company CSCEC's Chairman, Lu Chun said "today we are proud to inaugurate the first project of energy in Pakistan.

China and Pakistan are friends."

He spoke of China and Pakistan Economic Corridor and said Pakistan is a very important country for overseas investment.

He said we are confident that Pakistan's energy crisis would be over soon.
