imageLARKANA: Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and Minister of State, Marvi Memon on Monday inaugurated the Biometric Disbursement Center at BISP Regional Office Larkana.

The introduction of biometric system is aimed at ensuring fair distribution of stipend among the BISP beneficiaries. Addressing the inauguration ceremony and later talking to the media, she vowed to wage a war against middlemen and manipulators and to protect the self-respect of beneficiaries.

The BISP chairperson said the purpose of here visit was to understand the problems of beneficiaries. She said Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has assigned her this job to implement his vision of upholding self-respect and dignity of BISP beneficiaries.

She said the Prime Minister is aware of the difficulties faced by women and wants to provide them a purposeful life, which is their right.

Marvi Memon informed that BISP beneficiary committees have started functioning in 32 districts and the needy women are being assisted through social mobilisation.

The government is fully committed to eradicate poverty by launching various projects, she said, adding that hurdles to this effect are being removed amicably.

She said improvement of socio-economic condition of 50 million people of the country through the BISP is the prime task of the government.

In this connection, she added that various programmes have been launched on the directives of the Prime Minister.

Marvi Memon said that on the Prime Minister's directives, she came to Larkana to mitigate the problems of poor women and launched first ever biometric system for disbursement of BISP stipend under pilot project.

She said Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif will soon inaugurate BISP bio-metric disbursement centres all over the country.

She said efforts are underway to increase the number of beneficiaries up to 5 million by next year and a survey for the purpose is in progress throughout the country to include more deserving women.
