Earlier this morning, Justice Javed Iqbal, son of the famous poet Allama Iqbal, passed away in Lahore at the age of 90.
He died after long-illness on Saturday morning. He was born on October 5, 1924. He was battling cancer and was under treatment at the ‘Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital’.
Justice Javed Iqbal had served as a senior justice at the Supreme Court of Pakistan and had also been the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court.
The former justice participated thrice as a member of the Pakistani delegation at the United Nations.He served as chief justice of LHC from March 1982 till October 1986 and remained a senior judge of the Supreme Court. He also served as an elected member of the Senate. (Retd)Justice Javed Iqbal penned several books on the ideology of Pakistan.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has expressed grief and sorrow over the death of Javed Iqbal.
