ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Baligh Ur Rehman on Wednesday informed the Senate that technical education was less than one per cent in the country as compared with other countries adding that Vocational Secondary Schools (VSS) were being set up to impart technical and vocational training to the students of class 6th to 10th with formal education.
Replying to various supplementary questions during Question Hour, the minister said the government was paying special attention to promote technical and vocational education in the country.
Technical and Training policy was formulated for the first time in the country's history with the consultation of provinces to promote skills youth, he added.
He said that technical education was very important and special focus was being given for imparting technical and vocational to the youth.
He said that a special venture has been launched under which various technical skills would be imparted to the students of grade 6-10th in the VSS.
The minister said that short duration technical and vocational training were also being offered to the youth under the PM Youth Programme.
