ISLAMABAD: Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Thursday said the government was striving hard to manage the shortage of gas during winter to meet the increasing demand specially in Punjab.
Talking to a private news channel, he said after the 18th amendment, Punjab province was receiving lesser share of gas compared to its rapidly increasing demand.
The minister said the government was also importing liquified natural gas (LNG) which would help minimizing the gas shortage during high consumption winter season.
He said due to the installation of 0.8 million new domestic gas connections the pressure of the gas was affected but the department was making all possible efforts to manage it.
To overcome the shortage of gas in the country was not an easy task however with the efforts of the government LNG was being imported for the first time to provide smooth supply of gas to the consumers, he added.
