ZURICH: The Swiss government said on Thursday it expects the economy to recover slowly from the marked slowdown caused by the appreciation of the Swiss franc this year.
"Given that the international economy should improve gradually, the Expert Group anticipates an acceleration in economic growth in Switzerland from 0.8 percent in 2015 to 1.5 percent in 2016 and 1.9 percent in 2017," the state secretariat for economic affairs (Seco) said in a statement.
It slightly lowered its growth forecast for this year, but left the growth outlook for next year unchanged.
The Seco kept its inflation forecast for this year of -1.1 percent and slightly lowered the forecast for next year to -0.1 percent, from 0.1 percent in September.
It forecast inflation of 0.2 percent for 2017.
