imageMULTAN: Punjab government's vegetables promotion schemes succeeded in bringing down prices of almost all vegetables in South Punjab.

According to market committee sources, the prices of all vegetables are in easy approach of the citizens.

Tomato is being sold Rs 15/Kg, Onion Rs 30, Ginger Rs 66, Garlic Rs 165-242, Cabbage Rs 10, Cauliflower Rs 10, Pumpkin Rs 20, Spinach Rs 14, Pea Rs 30, Radish Rs 10, Carrot Rs 12, Okra 100, Baigaan Rs 18, Kareela Rs 60, Maithi Rs 12, Shimla Pepper Rs 77, Mongray Rs 22, Cucumber Rs 40, Lemon Rs 30, and Dhania Rs 12, and Turnip Rs 12 per kilogram. Thus, the maximum price of a vegetable is of Okra which is Rs 100, while lowest Rs 10 is for Cabbage which is available at Rs 10 per kilogram.

Assistant Director Agriculture Information Naveed Asmat Kohloon informed that Punjab government launched different projects worth millions of rupees to promote vegetables including kitchen gardening, tunnel farming, subsidy on different agricultural articles, provision of vegetable baskets, farm to market roads and continuous inspection and monitoring of vegetable filed by agriculture experts.
