imageLAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that setting up of the industrial estate in RY Khan would accelerate economic and trade activities in South Punjab. He said some elements are trying to create confusion and anarchy in the country through sit-ins at the time when development and prosperity of the country is in progress.

Addressing a function regarding inauguration of industrial estate in Rahim Yar Khan, he said setting up of the industrial estate in RY Khan would boost economic and trade activities besides providing an opportunity to businessmen and industrialists of South Punjab to expand their business, says a handout issued here on Thursday.

He said elements involved in politics of protest and anarchy were showing their enmity to the country and these elements were against progress and uplift of the masses.

He said the first phase of industrial estate had been inaugurated while the second phase would also be completed this year.

The Punjab government had fulfilled longstanding demand of people of South Punjab by setting up the industrial estate in RY Khan, he added.

The CM said speed at which work was being carried out on power projects under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was unprecedented in history of the country.

He said China was investing 36 billion dollars in power projects under the CPEC and thousands of megawatt electricity would be generated with the completion of several energy projects by the end of 2017.

Shehbaz Sharif said besides the CPEC, 3600 megawatt gas based power projects were also being set up in Punjab under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

He said these projects were being established at Baloki, Haveli Bahadur Shah and Bhikki which would be completed by 2017.

Neelam Jhelum Hydro Power Project was started in the tenure of Musharraf but had still not completed. Similarly, he said Nandipur Project was also launched in the tenure of Musharraf and the Peoples Party but also not completed.

Referring to Panama leaks, Shehbaz Sharif said Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had written a letter to the Supreme Court for the formation of the inquiry commission.

However, he said those elements who got their loans written off and looted public money should also be subjected to accountability.

An indiscriminate accountability was essential for elimination of corruption and strict accountability process was the need of the hour, the CM said.

Shehbaz Sharif announced supply of more electricity to Rahim Yar Khan industrial estate and said industrialists should set up their industries here and assured that they would be provided all out facilities.

The CM was informed in the briefing that there were 311 plots in the industrial estate and the setting up of industrial units would provide direct employment opportunities to 30,000 people and indirect job opportunities would also be provided to 100,000 people.

Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated the industrial estate by unveiling the plaque.

Later, he visited Khawaja Ghulam Farid Engineering and Information Technology University Rahim Yar Khan and inspected its various sections.

He directed that new building should be provided to students at the earliest.

Addressing students of the university, the CM said he was personally supervising the work regarding the university. He stressed upon them to utilize all their energies for progress and prosperity of the country.
