HYDERABAD: Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Liaquat Baloch has appreciated efforts of Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique for making improvement in railways adding that the country could be made prosperous through reforms in institutions instead of their privatization.
He expressed these remarks while addressing participants of a sit-in (Dharna) organized here by Jamaat-e-Islami in front of Hyderabad Press Club on Friday. Among others, Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Sindh, Dr Mairaj-ul-Huda Siddiqui, Secretary Mumtaz Hussain Soho, Abdul Waheed Qureshi, Eng. Hafiz Tahir Majeed, Lutufullah Bhutto and Dr. Saidur Rehman also addressed the participants.
Liaquat Baloch said that movement of corruption free Islamic prosperous Pakistan, which was launched by the Jamaat-e-Islami now become the people's movement as it's gaining popularity in all over the country.
He said that people of Sindh also demanding for rooting out corruption from the country particularly Sindh, he added.
He said that corruption in Pakistan is on the rise as it causing damages to institutions of the country. The agriculture sector is under deteriorating as a result of corruption and if the menace was not rooted out, it gives severe blow to the national economy as Pakistan is agro-based country.
He said that if railways could be brought on the right track then performance of other institutions like PIA, WAPDA, Steel Mills and OGDCL could also be improved through reforms. There is the need to disallow the IMF and World Bank as these organizations are harmful for the economy of the country, he added.
He said that Jamaat-e-Islami fully determined to develop national consensus against corruption as it supporting terrorism and creating social and political issues in the country.
Liaquat Baloch while praising services of the Federal Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique demanded from him to take notice over closure of Karachi-Mirpurkhas and Karach-Badin railway tracks and announce restarting of the same for the people of Sindh. In case of failure, Jamaat-e-Islami will stage sit-in outside Railway Headquarters at Lahore, he warned.
