PESHAWAR: People from cross section of society of Khyber Pakthunkhwa and Fata here Tuesday welcomed development package announced by Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif during his visit to DI Khan district where he inaugurated scores of uplift projects including establishment of Agriculture University, expedition of work CRBC project costing Rs 120 billion and upgradation of facilities at DI Khan International Airport.
The people of KP and Fata also hailed the inauguration of work on 285 kilometers long DI Khan-Halka section of motorway under CPEC inaugurated today by the Prime Minister in DI Khan and termed it a gift of PML-N Government for people of KPK.
Welcoming Prime Minister's development package for DI Khan district, Opposition leader in Khyber Pakthunkhwa Assembly, Lutufur Rehman said Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif deserved full credit and appreciation for announcing scores of uplift projects for development of this remote district of the province including a development package of Rs. 500 and establishment of agriculture university for people of DI Khan.
"The establishment of Agriculture University was the old demand of people of southern districts of Khyber Pakthunkhwa that was fulfilled today by the Prime Minister," he said.
This would save time and money of students of DI Khan Lakki Marwat, Bannu, South Waziristran Agency, Tank who wanted to adopt careers in agriculture, livestock, environment and forestry related sciences and wished to get quality higher education at their doorsteps.
With an establishment of Agriculture University in D I Khan, the students of southern districts of KP will not go to Peshawar, Islamabad and other areas of Sindh and Punjab provinces for higher education and will get the same facility in their home district DI Khan.
Rehmat Salam Khattak, a PML-N KP leader said the Prime Minister had launched mega project for supplying gas to tehsils of D.I.Khan with Rs 770 million and fulfilled yet another old demand of people of DI Khan. He said the Prime Minister was taking keen interest in multi dimensional Chesma Right Bank Canal (CRBC) project costing Rs120billion and directed the relevant authorities to complete technical work on it within three months.
The Prime Minister said 65 percent of the expenditure of CRBC would be borne by the federal government while 35 percent by the provincial government of KPK.
Rehmat said completion of CRBC would irrigate more than 300,000 acres of arid and semi arid lands of DI Khan and adjoining districts by bringing white and green revolution in Khyber Pakthunkhwa.
The PM has ordered carrying out feasibility study of Tank Zam and announced allocation of Rs 80 million in upcoming fiscal year for its feasibility study, he said, adding it was another mega project that after completion would help generate inexpensive electricity for domestic and industrial consumption besides irrigating thousands of acres of land.
Adnan, a resident of DI Khan also welcomed the PM announcement of establishment of Agriculture University in DI Khan besides upgradation of facilities in DI Khan International Airport and termed it a gift of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for people of KPK.
The people of southern districts are mostly associated with agriculture and livestock sectors while hundreds of thousands are working overseas and that with establishment of Agriculture University and upgradation of DI Khan International Airport would help them in financial fronts besides saving their time.
He also welcomed the announcement of PM for initiation of feasibility study for construction of flood protection walls that would help protect people of DI Khan from floods during monsoon season in river Sindh and adjoining water streams.
Welcoming PM development package for DI Khan, MPA Rushad Khan said Prime Minister was taking keen interest in the development of Khyber Pakthunkhwa referring to mega development projects such as Hazara motorway, Bannu International Airport, inagruration of work on 285 kilometer long DI Khan-Hakla section of motorway and Nawaz Sharif Kidney hospital in Swat, saying that PML-N will form next government in KP on the basis of its performance.
He said PML-N government was focusing on country's development, elimination of terrorism, early rehabilitation of TDPs, eradication of corruption, CPEC, addressing the core problem of energy crisis and strengthening of economy while on other hands a handful of elements was trying to create hurdle in PML-N way to deprive people of development.
He maintained that such elements would not succeed in their anti development designs and face crushing defeat in 2018 general election.
Rushad Khan said the country's cannot afford political instability and agitation politics in the prevailing geo political scenario rather unity and political cohesion required to move the country forward on road to progress and development.
The PMLN popularity graph has further raised in Khyber Pakthunkhwa and can be judged from the historic win of its candidate in PK-8 by-election in Peshawar, he added.
The MPA said PML-N would form next Government in KPK on the basis of its record development works in the province.
