The judge of the Accountability Court Rawalpindi-IV Chaudhry Mazhar Minhas has awarded three years imprisonment to former FIA deputy director general Rehman Malik and issued his arrest warrants in a corruption reference.
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Lieutenant General Munir Hafeez using the discretionary power under Section 13-A of the NAB Ordinance referred the case to the accountability court for trial.
During the proceeding of the court, FIA assistant directors Muhammad Fazal and Mirza Ashraf recorded their statements.
Malik Rehman has fled the country. During his tenure as FIA deputy director general he had accumulated wealth through illegal means.
He was also the owner of a Honda Civic car model 96, which he purchased through illegal money. The imprisonment will start from the day of his arrest.
