Senator Maulana Samiul Haq has threatened to part ways with the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) if the Shariat bill is not presented in the parliament and operation in tribal belt not stopped.
Speaking at a news conference after chairing the central Shoora meeting of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Sami), he said that he would quit MMA if the proposed Shariat bill was not tabled in the parliament within a month and operation against tribal people not halted.
He accused Qazi Hussain Ahmed and Maulana Fazlur Rehman of sidelining all other component parties while taking decisions on LFO or any other issue, while giving the ultimatum to the alliance leadership.
"My party is not taken into confidence by Jamaat-e-Islami and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) on any matter, which has compelled us to consider parting of ways," he maintained.
Maulana Sami alleged that JUI and other member parties of MMA were not consulted on supporting the 17th amendment bill or on abstaining from the vote of confidence to Musharraf.
In reply to a question, he said that it was final notice to MMA leadership to make the alliance democratic, taking along all the component parties, instead of confiding it to JI and JUI (F).
