National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Lieutenant General Munir Hafiz said on Saturday that the chapters regarding the elimination of corruption would be included in the curricula of educational institutions so as to sensitise the students about the menace right from the beginning.
He was speaking at the investiture ceremony of the newly-elected students council here at Islamabad Model College for Girls F-7/4.
The NAB chief said the youth of today was the leadership of tomorrow. For young ladies, the importance of education is manifold as they are the mothers of tomorrow and great responsibility lies on them for the proper upbringing of coming generation.
He said the newly-elected office-bearers of the council were in glass houses as they are accountable to their fellow students.
He asked the student council to maintain high values and display balance and honesty in their work.
They should be true to their pledge and should work diligently by letting the merit prevail in all aspects.
He said NAB was working on to include some chapters in the curricula of educational institutions regarding the elimination of corruption from the society.
For this reason, NAB has consulted Ministry of Education and various educationists to prepare curriculum to sensitise the students about this issue, he added.
The NAB chief said being the member of student council is an important phase in student's life, and is a step towards leadership.
Federal Board of Education Director-General Brigadier Maqsoodul Hassan (Retd) hoped that the new council would play its role with due responsibility, leaving a mark of excellence on their institution.
He stressed for the need of character-building through co-curricular activities which were an important part of college calendar.
College Principal Mrs Rukhsana Tufail advised the students to take full advantage of the guidance being provided by the institution, saying the free and fair elections through which the students were elected should be used as an example in their practical life.
Earlier, We NAB chief administered the oath of office to the newly-elected office-bearers.
The newly-elected president of college council, Masooma Khan, in her speech pledged to uphold the traditions of the college and work for its success.
A beautiful candle lighting ceremony was held in which the outgoing president handed over a lit candle to Masooma symbolising the continuance of good work done by the previous council.
