The supreme council of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) releasing 7-point charge sheet against Sindh government for its 14-month performance on Friday announced launching of movement against it after the Eid-ul-Azha.
The MMA took the decision at a meeting presided over by its provincial chief MNA Asadullah Bhutto, Allama Hassan Turabi, Maulana Abdul Karim Abid, Muhammad Hashim Siddiqui, Qari Muhammad Usman, Hafiz Taqi, Muhammad Iqbal Siddiqui, Mujahid Channa and other leaders attended the meeting that lasted late on Thursday, MMA press release said.
The meeting expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the province, extortion of money, kidnapping for ransom, theft and robbery incidents.
In its 7-point charge sheet, the MMA accused Governor Sindh for misuse of power and appointing at higher posts the persons affiliated to his party. It referred to removal of VC Karachi University Dr Zafar Saeed Saifi and appointment of a person as VC at Dow medical university against the merit. Besides, appointment of a junior doctor as medical superintendent at civil hospital Karachi and a project director at high remuneration for establishment of S. M. Law university.
The second point pertains to appointment of lecturers in the colleges on the recommendations of ministers instead of through the public service commission. It also apprehended corruption in upcoming process for of recruitment of teachers. Alleging that corruption was rampant in Sindh Textbook Board, Sindhi Language Authority and other institutions, it said educational institutions are being occupied by a particular party creating lawlessness through a well-planned conspiracy.
The other points related to deteriorating law and order situation, unemployment, price-hike, decay in agriculture sector, wheat-shortage, damages to sugarcane growers, construction of Thal canal despite opposing it through twice adopted resolution by the Sindh Assembly, release of criminals from the jails, extortion etc.
The MMA stated that it would launch a mass contact movement against the government after Eid to mobilise the public.
