Traders Alliance Peshawar has demanded of Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani to ban the holding of industrial exhibitions inside Peshawar city and also the scheduled one at Nishtar Hall with immediate effect.
The demand was made during a meeting of the alliance held here on Monday.
Chairman Sharafat Ali Mubarak was in the chair. Those who attended the meeting included senior vice-chairman Haji Muhammad Ghufran, general secretary Shaukat Ali Khan and all members of the co-ordination committee.
The meeting has warned that in case the government failed to accept the traders' demand, then a meeting of the trading community of the city would be convened to announce future line of action in this connection.
They said that in case of any untoward incident, the government and administration would be held responsible.
In a joint statement issued at the end of the meeting, the Traders Alliance has reminded the chief minister of his announcement in the presence of more than 2,000 traders regarding ban on the holding of industrial exhibitions in the city. But, instead of ban work on the installation of stalls for the exhibition is continuing in Nishtar Hall.
They said that the installation of the stalls has increased the fears of the trading community of Peshawar.
They warned that if the directives of the chief executive of the province were not honoured and exhibition was held, then the whole trading community of the city will take out a rally and march up to the exhibition site and remove stalls by force.
The meeting added that the traders did not want to create law and order situation for the government and want the resolution of the matter through peaceful means. But, they said that some elements have intentionally bent upon to create problems for the government.
They further said, "the traders of Peshawar pay all kind of taxes and deserve to resist the selling of substandard products at exorbitant prices to the consumers.
