Pakistan International Airlines plans to start direct flights from Pakistan to destinations in the United States after it gets two modern Boeing-777 aircraft by mid-March next.
According to PIA officials, the national standard carrier has already acquired a Boeing 777, which has been pressed into service and is flying from Islamabad to the United Kingdom.

It may be mentioned that PIA, under an agreement, is to purchase a total of eight aircraft from the Boeing company. It has already acquired one aircraft, while another will be delivered later this month and the third in the following month.
PIA will acquire two more Boeing 777s in 2006, and the remaining three in 2008.
