National Assembly Speaker Amir Hussain has said that Kashmir issue would be settled in accordance with the United Nations resolutions and the aspiration of that Kashmiri people.
Addressing an open Kutchary here on Saturday about 23 km from Sialkot, he said he fully supported the Kashmir policy of President Pervez Musharraf and was optimistic that this burning issue would be resolved under his dynamic leadership in due course of time.
The Speaker said that the present government is mobilising all its channels for the peaceful solution of Kashmir dispute at the earliest possible.
He said that the President has initiated drive against terrorists for purging the country of this menace on permanent basis, and added that he was made target by terrorists but Almighty Allah saved him.
Chaudhry Amir said that he believes that Almighty Allah has saved Musharraf for taking a big work from him.
The Speaker supported the new local bodies system of the country and said that a large number of people have benefited from this programme and all problems and difficulties are being redressed at local levels in the country.
He said that all arrangements for construction of a bridge on Munawwarwali Tavi have been finalised and the project would be completed at a cost of Rs 160 million, of which the federal government has provided Rs 60 million and Rs 100 million by the Punjab government.
He said that with the completion of this bridge over 85 villages would be linked with district headquarters on permanent basis and pave the way for a new era of development and prosperity in Bujwat area.
He assured the people that all-out efforts are being made to eliminate the backwardness from Bujwat and bring it on equal footing with developed areas of Sialkot district.
Choudary Amir said that a digital telephone exchange of 308 lines has been established at a cost of Rs 9 million while a branch of National Bank of Pakistan has been reopened in village Khojay Chek.
The step has been taken to facilitate the local population and to mitigate their travelling difficulties, he added.
Acting Sialkot District Nazim Arsal Waqar Ghumman informed the Speaker that different development projects have been started at a cost of Rs 90 million in Bujwat area.
Earlier, the Speaker inaugurated the digital telephone exchange and National Bank branch. The people of Bujwat gave a rousing reception on his first official visit to the constituency.
