The Punjab Zakat Council through its 25,267 local Zakat and Ushr committees distributed more than Rs 1,018 million among Mustehqeen for treatment, study and marriage assistance by the end of last fiscal year.
The Zakat council disbursed an amount of Rs 611.39 million among destitute, widows and other deserving people of the province as subsistence allowance at the rate of Rs 500 per family monthly through local Zakat and Ushr committees.
The Council distributed Rs 183.41 million as stipend among the deserving students studying in schools, colleges and universities of the province.
It distributed Rs 81.52 million, Rs 61.13 million, and Rs 40.75 million as stipend among Deeni Madaris imparting religious education to students, deserving patients through patient welfare societies and marriage assistance to deserving parents respectively by the end of December 31, 2003 through local Zakat and Ushr committees functioning in all the 35 districts of the province.
