The Advisor to Government of the Punjab for Promotion of Religious Harmony, Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi has said that as a result of effective and comprehensive steps taken by the government the situation of religious tolerance, brotherhood, sectarian harmony and unity had become very encouraging.
However, Ulema, religious scholars and intellectuals would have to play a key role for the maintenance of law and order situation during the month of Muharram-ul-Haram, so that no mischief monger could try to pollute the environment of peace and tranquillity.
He expressed these views while addressing an "Aman Mazakra" in memory of Late Maulana Zia ul Qasmi at Bait-ul-Qasimi, Ghulam Muhammadabad, Secretary Auqaf Punjab Javed lqbal Awan, DPO Capt. Muhammad Amin (Retd), City Nazim Chaudhry Mumtaz Ali Cheema, City Naib Nazim Ilyas Ansari, MNA Raja Nadir Parvaiz, Pir Muhammad Ibrahim, Maulana Javed Akbar Saqi, Sahibzada Zahid Mahmood Qasimi, Bishop Dr Joseph Couts, Bishop Javed Albert, Provincial Khateeb Auqaf Maulana Abdul Salam, Sardar Gurmeet Singh, ulema belonging to different schools of thought, religious leaders, trade leaders, lawyers and citizens were also present on this occasion.
Provincial Advisor said that the steps taken by the Government for the elimination of terrorism, extremism and sectarianism were yielding encouraging results and had the right steps been taken in the past, such problems would have not cropped up.
Today not only the atmosphere of mutual co-operation and respect and tolerance were existing among different sects but the minority community also enjoyed the liberty of thought and security, however, in order to save the peace, tranquillity and national unity from the evil eyes we would have to keep our minds and eyes open.
Lauding the exemplary services of the district peace committee being rendered for the maintenance of inter-religions unity and law & order situation, he said that their efforts were worth emulating for other districts.
Paying rich tributes to Late Maulana Zia-ul-Qasmi for his national and religious services the Advisor said that efforts made by him for "lttehad Bain-ul-Muslimeen" would be continued.
He said that the month of Muharram was equally sacred for the Muslims belonging to all the sects and no opportunist would be allowed to create religious hatred or utter any objectionable word against any sect and the law-breakers would be dealt with an iron hand. He said that "Azzadars" should strictly abide by the settled and agreed upon places, routes and timings of "Majalis" and processions so that no element could find a chance of mischief mongering.
Secretary Auqaf Punjab, Javed lqbal Awan said that where knowledge and love were present, ignorance and hatred had no place to stay there. Our Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) elevated religion Islam by highlighting humanitarian and religious values and by following the sunnah of holy Prophet (PBUH) with a pure and clean heart we could make our society the citadel of an ideal peace. Appreciating the efforts of the organisers of "Aman Mazakra" he said that Faisalabad was on the top with reference to the promotion of peace and religious harmony and this fragrance of peace and solidarity would spread in every nook and corner.
DPO Captain Muhammad Amin (Retd) said that the holding of this convention fully reflected that ulema belonging to different sects and their followers fully realised the importance of peace & tranquillity and they were endeavouring selflessly to maintain religious tolerance.
City Nazim Chaudhry Mumtaz Cheema, MNA Raja Nadir Parvaiz, City Naib Nazim Ilyas Ansari, Pir Muhammad lbrahim, Sahibzada Zahid Mahamood Qasmi, Mualana Javed Akbar Saqi, Maulana Abdul Salam, Maulana Muhammad Yousaf Anwar, Maulana Abdul Qadeer Azad, former Mayor Malik Muhammad Ashraf, Bishop Joseph Couts, Rana Khalid Mahmood, Sardar Gurmeet Singh, Alhaj Mohammed Nawaz Vohra, Chaudhry Saeed Ahmad Advocate, Haji Sheikh Taj Mahmood, Bishop Javed Albert, Nadeem Shiblee Advocate, Allama Sher Muhammad Sialvi, Allama Tahir-ul-Hassan, Maulana Amjad Ali Amjad, Qari Javed Akhtar and others while expressing there views said that the mission of peace started by Late Maulana Zia-ul-Qasimi would continue for all the times to come.
They also assured to make united struggle for keeping the law and order situation under control during Muharram-ul-Haram.
