The District Government Faisalabad has decided in principle to withdraw toll tax levied earlier on five important city roads.
Addressing the press here on Saturday at Chenab Club, District Nazim Chudhary Zahid Nazir said that toll tax was levied on Abbaspur road, Sargodha Road, Jhang road, Khurrianwala-Jaranwala road and Jaranwala-Satiana road to generate additional funds for the future expansion in addition to their regular repair and maintenance.
"All the process was completed in a most transparent manner after completing the required formalities," he added.
The District Nazim said that in view of the public problems, a committee comprising Union Nazims was formed to give its independent opinion on the toll tax.
He said that the committee has unanimously recommended to withdraw this toll only because of the sufferings and problems of the general public.
