As elsewhere the International Women's Day will be marked in Karachi in a befitting manner.
Various organisations have chalked out programmes to observe this very event.
The All Pakistan Women's Association (APWA) has specially designed flag which would be hoisted at a ceremony to be held at the APWA Headquarters on March 8.
The ceremony would be performed by the APWA President, Begum Tazeen Faridi.
The Karachi Women's Peace Committee would also organise a seminar on the occasion.
Princess Sarvath Hassan of Jordan will be the chief guest while Justice Sajjad Ali Shah (Retd) will preside.
It will be addressed Dr S.H.M. Jaffri of Aga Khan University, MMA MNA Ms Raheela Qazi, Dr Fazalur Rahman, Qazi Faez Issa and Zia Awan.
In a statement the president of APWA Begum Tazeen Faridi said that "March 8 reminds us of the beginning of the struggle of women for emancipation world-wide."
She said the Beijing Plan of Action needs further follow up. Begum Faridi pointed out that the APWA views with concern the growing environment of violence and insecurity faced by the women and children.
She urged the government and the NGOs to enhance their efforts towards ameliorating the lot of Pakistani people at home and abroad and strive for a united, prosperous and enlightened Pakistan.
The APWA chief hoped that this year of the child will provide a better future for the children of Pakistan as visualised by the founders of Pakistan and Begum Raana Liaquat Ali, the founder president of APWA whose centenary will be observed in February 2005.
She hoped that 2005 would be declared the year of Begum Raana Liaquat Ali Khan.
