Sindh Minister for Education Irfanullah Khan Marwat has agreed to send seven-point demands of Sindh Professors and Lecturers' Association (SPLA), with the recommendation of provincial education department to federal government.
These demands were raised by a delegation of SPLA, which called on him at his office here on Wednesday. Syed Riyaz Ahsan led the delegation while Secretary Ghulam Ali Shah, Additional Secretaries Karim Bakhsh Sarohi, Dr Noorul Haq and a deputy secretary finance, department assisted the education minister in the meeting.
According to a four-grade formula agreed in the meeting, 507 promotions, 150 libraries, and DP's will be promoted to the next grade. Teachers' foundation would reactivate for teachers' welfare and Teachers Academy will be made active for teachers' training.
Health Insurance Scheme for teachers and loan facility will be given to teachers for purchase of car and construction of house, the meeting decided.
The meeting further decided to take impressive and solid steps for eradication of political and external interference from education institutions of the province.
It was also decided to take steps for release of lapsed money, reserved in term of purchase. Early release of money for seconded number of employees (SNE) out of Rs 500 million education budget was also decided.
Meanwhile, Sindh Education Minister Irfanullah Khan Marwat has said that government was taking every step to solve genuine problems of teachers.
He informed Sindh Professors and Lecturers' Association (SPLA) delegation that summary recommending promotions for teachers, has been sent to higher authorities and added that issuance of orders on these recommendations were expected within some days.
He assured the SPLA delegations that their genuine problems would be solved on priority and added he would raise their problems with finance minister and Sindh Chief Minister.
