Leader of the opposition in Sindh Assembly and PPP Sindh President Nisar Khoro on Wednesday criticised Muttahida Qaumi Movement and federal government and appealed to the international community to help Pakistani people in getting rid of 'terrorists' and their supporters.
He was addressing the activists of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and other opposition parties, including Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy (ARD) and the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA), who staged a sit-in in front of the Sindh Assembly building here on Wednesday to protest against murder of PPP MPA Abdullah Murad.
"The president claims to be part of international coalition against terrorism but in his own country, terrorist are part of the government who are killing even members of assemblies," Nisar Khoro alleged, adding that in a country where MPAs were not protected, what would be the fate of ordinary citizens?
Criticising the Sindh Assembly speaker, he deplored that although they had submitted requisition for convening provincial assembly session to debate murder of one of its member, the speaker summoned the meeting on March 19, which was unjust.
He alleged that Muttahida Qaumi Movement was involved in the assassination of MPA Abdullah Murad, adding that it has converted the province into a hell for the citizens of the province.
"But we are not afraid of them, we will continue struggle for the rights of Sindh, restoration of real Constitution and revival of democracy," he said and feared that more PPP leaders and activists might be killed by the terrorists.
He also appealed to all the opposition parties to attend All Parties Conference (APC) to be held by PPP in near future and join the struggle against terrorist elements, ruling over Sindh.
Syed Qaim Ali Shah in his address termed killing of Abdullah Murad as well-conceived conspiracy and alleged that steps were being taken by the government to destabilise PPP. "We have faced jails, martial laws and we have the ability to deal with terrorists too," he added.
Former Sindh governor and PML-N leader Mamnoon Hussain in his address urged the judiciary to take suo motu action against the assassination of MPA Abdullah Murad and asked political activists to gear up for a bigger campaign against the present government.
MMA MPA Nasrullah Shajee in his address condemned the killing of MPA Abdullah Murad and held Muttahida responsible for his assassination. He said killing of political opponents amounted to state terrorism.
Eminent among others who also spoke on the occasion were Sardar Rahim, Makhdoom Jamil-uz-Zaman, Muzaffar Shijra, Rashid Rabbani, Sassi Palejo, Professor N.D. Khan, Rafique Engineer, Salim Zia and Munawar Suharwardi.
Later, the protestors dispersed peacefully amid chanting slogans for arrest of killers of their leader.
Meanwhile, police and Rangers reportedly clamped "unannounced curfew" in many areas of the city, including Lyari, Chakiwara, Lee Market, Kalakot, Malir and resorted to baton charge on rallies of PPP activists.
According to some PPP MPAs, police used brutal force, resorted to baton charge and arrested many people from Lyari, Safora Goth, Malir and adjoining areas to stop people from gathering at the Sindh Assembly building.
PPP leaders condemn the arrest and brutalities of the administration and termed it anti-democratic attitude of the government.
