Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has exhorted Police Department's training institutions to include education on good behaviour and ethical standards as integral part of their academic curriculum.
While addressing a function of Police Elite School here on Friday, Pervaiz said that an amount of Rs five billion has been earmarked for police reforms, out of which Rs two billion would be utilised for construction of patrolling posts, whereas Rs three billion would be spent on provision of transport, latest equipment and other facilities to modernise the police system. Punjab Law Minister Muhammad Basharat Raja, I.G Police Punjab Masud Shah and other senior civil servants were present on the occasion.
Chief Minister said that better performance of Elite Force is reflective of the fact that it can face any situation effectively.
He announced that this institution would be further strengthened and substantial resources would be spent on enhancing professional skills of police force. As compared to other provinces, Punjab Police lags three times behind in terms of transport and other equipment.
A committee has been formed to adopt recommendations for provision of Risk Allowance and other facilities to Elite Force, he said.
