Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon held an unannounced meeting with Jordan's King Abdullah II at his ranch in southern Israel, Israeli public radio said Friday.
At Thursday's meeting, to which Abdullah arrived by helicopter, Sharon discussed his plans for withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and the construction of a separation barrier on the West Bank, which has been criticised by Jordan, the radio station reported.
It was their first meeting since the June 2003 Aqaba summit held in Jordan for the launch of the moribund roadmap for peace blueprint.
Sharon has recently stepped up his efforts to promote his so-called "disengagement plan", which includes a withdrawal from most of the Gaza Strip and some Jewish settlements in the West Bank.
