Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad, along with Chief Minister Sardar Ali Mohammad Maher and his cabinet ministers, visited the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah and laid wreaths at his mazar and offered fateha to begin celebrations of the Pakistan Day.
The governor recorded his impression in the visitors' book, went round the mazar and saw its maintenance.
Earlier when the governor arrived at the mazar he was escorted by the naval police and received by the chief minister and his ministers.
The governor, along with the chief minister, also went to the place, beneath the mazar and inspected the grave of the Quaid.
He inquired about the repairs and other maintenance works in progress and asked completion of work worthy of the dignity of the Father of the Nation.
District Co-ordination Officer Mir Hussain Ali briefed the governor about the ongoing work and assured him of timely completion of the work.
Later in the day, many other organisations visited the mazar, offered fateha and laid wreaths.
Seminars were also held at various places to highlight the significance of March 23 and to once again remember the teaching of the founder of Pakistan.
Major buildings in the city were decorated with festoons and bunting and lit with coloured electric bulbs.
