World Bank's mission in Pakistan on Wednesday called on Federal Minister for Water & Power Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao and discussed potential of investment in water & power sectors.
World Bank's mission comprising Country Chief John Walls and local representative Abid Hassan called on the Federal Minister for Water & Power Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao here. Additional Secretary Water & Power, Riaz Ahmed Khan was also present during the meeting.
During the meeting they discussed matters relating to water and power sectors. The Minister apprised the World Bank team about the development of the ongoing projects in the country.
The World Bank team lauded the efforts made by the government of Pakistan for the developments of water and power sector.
It also discussed the overall strategy for uplift of the water & power sectors in the country.
They made special mention of 45% PSDP allocation for the water & power sector during the current financial year appreciating present government efforts for improving the water & power scenario in the country.
The minister on this occasion thanked the World Bank for extending co-operation in the Water & Power sectors and hoped that this co-operation would continue in the future.
He also reiterated the government's commitment towards saving and proper utilisation of water in the country by construction of new water reservoirs and up-gradation and maintenance of the existing watercourses.
He also mentioned the growing power needs of the country and stressed the need of increasing the power generation capacity of the country and up-gradation of the power transmission and distribution system.
