Sri Lanka off spinner Muttiah Muralitharan, who has been reported again for a suspect bowling action, is confident he will be cleared by the sport's governing body.
Muralitharan was reported on Sunday to the International Cricket Council by match referee Chris Broad for having a suspect action when he bowls his "doosra", a delivery that spins in the opposite direction to his stock ball.
"I am very disappointed by what has happened as I thought this matter was behind me," Muralitharan told reporters on Monday following a third test defeat by Australia.
"I have been bowling this delivery for over five years now and I am naturally upset because I feel there is nothing wrong with it," he added.
"I am very confident that these assessments will prove, once and for all, that my bowling action is perfectly legal."
Cricket board chief executive Duleep Mendis told reporters on Monday: "The only difference...is that he has now perfected the delivery, making it more effective and accurate," he added in reference to media reports, which began last year, that Muralitharan had developed a "new" delivery.
Mendis said the board had started the ICC's two-stage process for dealing with suspect bowling actions and they hope to appoint an ICC-approved human movement specialist on Monday.
