Singapore bunker fuel oil prices inched up on Tuesday as support from higher fuel oil cargoes and crude oil prices added to tight prompt supply to counter downward pressure from thin demand.
Traders said high-viscosity 380-centistoke fuel oil was pegged at $169 a tonne, up $2 from Monday, while low-viscosity 180-cst was pegged $5 above 380-cst.
"The market's very quiet as ship owners wait to see what crude's going to do next, but bunker is up a bit on congestion that has spooked the market," an independent trader said.
Incoming fuel oil supply has seen many Singapore berths overcrowded, making refuelling difficult, traders said.
Marine gas oil prices inched up on crude support and stronger middle distillates prices, rising $3 from Monday to $288 a tonne, brokers said.
